System requirements

Roastive is built on Tauri — light, fast,
and easy on system resources.

Processor & memory

A 64-bit processor is required. We recommend 4GB+ RAM for real-time data processing and chart rendering, or 8GB+ when monitoring multiple roasters at once.

Storage

The app itself needs about 200MB; roast data is stored in a local SQLite database. Keep 1GB+ free for long-term roast history.

Roaster connection

Communication with your roaster requires USB (RS-485 adapter) or an Ethernet port. For USB-to-RS485 converters we recommend FTDI or CH340 chipset models.

Protocols

Supports Modbus RTU (serial), Modbus TCP (Ethernet), and Siemens S7. Built-in presets per roaster manufacturer mean you can connect without manual protocol setup.

First launch guide

An official code-signing certificate is coming soon. Until then, use the steps below for the first launch.

macOS

  1. Double-click the downloaded .dmg
  2. Drag Roastive.app into the Applications folder
  3. On first launch, at the "cannot verify" warning → Cancel
  4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
  5. Click "Open Anyway" in the Security section
  6. Launch the app again → Open

You only need to do this once — the app opens normally afterwards.

Windows

  1. Double-click the downloaded .exe
  2. If SmartScreen appears, choose "More info" → Run anyway
  3. Complete the installation
  4. Launch Roastive from the Start menu

The extra confirmation is only needed on the first run.
